We carried out our investigation on stain C.didensii 74-10 under contiuous cultivation, nitrogen limitation and dilution rate of 0.1 h–1 after pulse on the yeast populations with 0.01%, 0.02% or 0.04% formaldehyde. The results showed that during the transient regime after pulse with 0.02% formaldehyde it was observed changes in biomass and protein content. At a new steady state the values of the main parameters reached those of the control culture without inhibitor. The data showed an increase of activities of NADPH– and NADH-glutamate dehydrogenase. It was found that under nitrogen limitation after pulse with 0.04% formaldehyde the cell growth was extremely inhibited, biomass and rpotein yields were sharply decreased, and the culture could not rech a new steady state, because of unability to get over the inhibiting impact of the formaldehyde.
